May 2 – Signs of Spring
After a long cold winter, it is so exciting to see birds coming back, flowers in bloom and plants turning green! We’ll read one of our favorite books – Possum & the Peeper, then see how many signs of spring we can find on a walk around Prescott Farm.
May 9 - Sneaky Salamanders
Did you know that salamanders and newts are all around us? Though they are pretty sneaky and not often seen by people, there are a ton of them in the forest! We’ll learn more about these fascinating creatures and go on a walk to turn over logs (their favorite habitat) and of course keep count of how many we find.
May 16 - In the Garden
The garden season is here - we’ll spend our time today in the garden – digging, planting, smelling, tasting (maybe!), and using our eyes and ears to explore this magical place.
May 23 - TREEmendous Trees
Trees are an extremely important part of the natural world. From oaks to apples, and maples to pines, we’ll meet and get to know a bunch of them and learn all about how they provide food, shelter and other benefits to critters and people.
May 30 - Bugs, Slugs & Worms, Oh My!
There are lots of creatures who live at Prescott Farm, including some not-so-cuddly ones! Let’s explore and learn more about these small, fascinating creatures! We’ll go on a walk and turn over some rocks to see what critters we can find.
June 6 - Outside Art
For our last class we will collect natural materials and use the forest, field and garden as inspiration for some fun and messy art projects. As a group we’ll make a piece of art for Prescott Farm’s visitors to enjoy throughout the summer.
Polliwogs will be offered rain or shine! If it is raining, we will have our activities in the barn.
